Sarah Turner, M.A., Intern Counsellor

With over ten years of research and practice in body-oriented therapies for anxiety and stress, I support people to experience a greater sense of trust in their natural wisdom and innate capacity to experience long-lasting change.

I integrate cognitive behavioural therapy and body-focused therapy methods to work with the whole person, body and mind. Through a collaborative process, I support people to experience sensations and emotions as they settle and release through the body. This process enables the mind to settle as we work with thoughts. Increased understanding develops as individual strengths and resources are used to manage current or past issues, within the context of their unique situation. From here, greater ease, confidence and wisdom begin to emerge. This process includes compassionate attention to what feels true for each individual regarding how to move forward with increased vitality and resilience to stress.

My training includes:

  • Experiential Accelerated Dynamic Psychotherapy (AEDP)
  • Body-Mind Psychotherapy
  • Experiential Anatomy
  • Bodynamic Analysis

I am currently completing my internship at the Alpine Anxiety and Stress Relief Clinic under the director, Claire Maisonneuve.  My background as a visual artist informs my creative interest in the complexity of human nature as well as my trust in our abilities for creative expression in resolving issues.  I hold a Master of Fine Art degree from UBC and I am currently completing my second graduate degree, a Master in Counselling Psychology.

I specialize in helping people with:

  • Anxiety
  • Panic
  • Stress
  • Personal challenges
